Welcome to Cockburn Haigh Road Academy
'Together Towards Achievement'
Close to Leeds and Wakefield, Cockburn Haigh Road Academy is situated in the friendly community of Rothwell town. As an Infant and Nursery school, we have two Key Stages - the Foundation Stage [ages 3-5yrs] and Key Stage 1 [ages 5-7yrs]. Our Early Years staff ensure the children learn and achieve through a stimulating and play based curriculum - the provision of a wealth of learning experiences and opportunities, both inside and out create a foundation for future learning.
Our pupils are well behaved and welcoming and our achievements throughout the curriculum are a credit to our pupils and staff.
Our hard working, dedicated and skilled team include teachers (Louise Aston, Nicola Cawtheray, Fiona Longbottom, Helen Young, Rosie Pratt, Jodie Fawcett, Liz Costello and Helen Reid and 1 nursery assistant (Helen Turpin), teaching assistants (Gina Bird, Tracy Frost, Hayley Buckley, Mandy Foster, Karina Eaglen, Mandy Deeley, Mark Newsome, Jenni Harrison, Kelsie Frost, including 1 higher level assistant (Dianne Carter), the administrator (Alison Broughton), her assistant (Mackaler Walmsley) and ground premises manager (Darren Dunwell), all led by the Acting Headteacher Louise Aston.
The school day begins at 8.50am and finishes at 3.10pm, and each and every day is packed full of new and exciting learning opportunities for all our pupils with facilities and resources that help create a stimulating environment for everyone working at Haigh Road.
We welcome and encourage parental involvement in the children’s education and we believe it is essential for ‘home’ and ‘school’ to work together to enable your children to make the most of their time at Cockburn Haigh Road Academy.
If you would like any further information or would like to visit our school, please contact Mrs Broughton and our friendly office team.
