Close to Leeds and Wakefield, Rothwell Haigh Road Infant School is situated in the friendly community of Rothwell town. As an Infant and Nursery school, we have two Key Stages - the Foundation Stage [ages 3-5yrs] and Key Stage 1 [ages 5-7yrs]. Our Early Years staff ensure the children learn and achieve through a stimulating and play based curriculum - the provision of a wealth of learning experiences and opportunities, both inside and out create a foundation for future learning.
The early skills are encouraged and developed by the staff in Key Stage 1 through a cross curricular and creative approach. Our inclusive and caring approach enables every child to positively develop their understanding and learning and to enjoy all their achievements.
As you browse our site you will see that our curriculum stimulates, enhances and develops the academic and social skills of our learners and thoughtful learning and teaching experiences are supported by sensitive assessment processes from Nursery to the end of KS1.
Our pupils are well behaved and welcoming and our achievements throughout the curriculum are a credit to our pupils and staff.
Our hard working, dedicated and skilled team include teachers (Louise Aston, Nicola Cawtheray, Julie Healey, Joanne Swift, Kelly Rowlands, Rosie Pratt, Jodie Fawcett, Liz Costello and Helen Reid and 1 nursery assistant (Helen Turpin), teaching assistants (Gina Bird, Tracy Frost, Fran Hackney, Rachel Hackney, Mandy Foster, Karina Eaglen, Mandy Deeley, Mark Newsome, David Stewart, including 1 higher level assistant (Dianne Carter), the administrator (Alison Broughton), her assistant (Lynda Cook) and ground premises manager (Darren Dunwell), all led by the Headteacher (Miss Sally Ann Boulton) and Deputy Headteacher (Louise Aston - Foundation Stage).
The school day begins at 8.50am and finishes at 3.10pm, and each and every day is packed full of new and exciting learning opportunities for all our pupils with facilities and resources that help create a stimulating environment for everyone working at Haigh Road.
We welcome and encourage parental involvement in the children’s education and we believe it is essential for ‘home’ and ‘school’ to work together to enable your children to make the most of their time at Rothwell Haigh Road Infant School.
